For the ninth consecutive year, local DJ Robert “Bobby C” Campbell is soliciting donations to help feed families in need on Thanksgiving.

An $80 contribution will sponsor a family in need, providing a Thanksgiving dinner complete with a turkey, stuffing, potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, turkey gravy, cranberry sauce and apple pie. Donations must be received by Oct. 22 so the food can be ordered in time to distribute it from the Bernardston Senior Center on Nov. 22.

“We’re into the heart of our campaign here,” Campbell said. “We’ve got a month to get our order in.”

He said he works with Foster’s Supermarket in Greenfield, the effort’s largest supporter, as well as local farmers to buy the food. The biggest civic organization supporter is the Knights of Columbus Council 133, which is the only one that has been involved for all nine years. Part of Campbell’s effort is also to disseminate money to local programs — such as Stone Soup Cafe, Living Waters Assembly of God, the Greenfield Salvation Army and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western Massachusetts — so they can buy and prepare food for families.

Campbell hopes this year to provide meals for 2,700 people, which would be on par with recent years.

Checks should be made out to: Bobby Campbell, 303 Fairway Ave., Turners Falls, MA 01376 (with “Needy Families T-Day Fundraiser 2024” written in the memo line). Donors can also send money via Venmo at @bobbyCcampbell.

Donors can have a picture taken of them making their donation if they schedule a time to meet Campbell by calling him at 413-834-4222. Donors can sponsor as many families as they want.
