DEERFIELD – The town is in need of a new assistant town administrator following Michael Lapinski’s abrupt departure.

The Selectboard voted unanimously to accept Lapinski’s resignation on Oct. 2 and a job posting is expected in the near future.

Acting Town Administrator Diana Schindler had no statement or explanation regarding Lapinski’s tenure or resignation but sent The Recorder a previous assistant town administrator job description.

According to that description, the assistant town administrator assists the town administrator with analysis, planning, and policy development regarding various management projects and activities and serves as the planning officer, overseeing land use, planning, and community development services.

As the planning officer, the assistant town administrator coordinates and oversees land use, planning, and community development, and also provides assistance to the Planning Board, Conservation Commission, and the Zoning Board of Appeals.

This is a 30- to 35-hours-per-week, benefitted position, according to the previous job description.
