Forecast didn’t dampen turnout for shooting day

PETERSHAM — Sixty-eight women ignored Saturday’s stormy forecast and showed up for a full day of introduction to the shooting sports of compound bows, crossbows, rifle, pistol, shotgun, black powder and BB guns at the fourth annual Girls, Guns & Grillin’ event at the Petersham Gun Club.

The event is geared toward women who typically don’t have the opportunity to experience these sports. The day began with a safety meeting, before the groups of 10 women each went to their first station. The day finished with a chicken barbecue prepared by members of the Petersham Gun Club.

Girls, Guns & Grillin’ is hosted and sponsored by Grrr Gear Inc. of Orange. This year’s event sold out in a record six and a half hours.
