Make great chili? Enter it into the Chili Cook Off

CHARLEMONT — The 22nd annual Friends of Charlemont Fairgrounds Chili Cook Off will be held on Sunday, Feb. 11, at the Eagles Club in Shelburne Falls, and the organizers are looking for chili entries.

Those who want to enter their best chili recipes can enter the contest by Feb. 5. Entry forms should include your name, address, contact information, and what type of chili you are planning to enter. Mail them to: Friends of Charlemont Fairgrounds, P.O. Box 75, Charlemont MA 01339.

Entrants should arrive at the Eagles Club, 52 State St., by 3:30 p.m. with a minimum of two gallons of chili in an electric slow cooker or Crock Pot. Bring your own extension cord and ladle for serving.

The public comes from 4 to 6:30 p.m., samples the entries and votes for their favorite. Admission is $7; but free for those who enter a chili.

Besides the chilis, there is a 50/50 drawing and a chance to win $50 worth of Lottery Scratch Tickets. The proceeds benefit the Friends of Charlemont Fairgrounds, which hosts the annual Yankee Doodle Days and oversees the fairgrounds. For more information, call Tammy Hicks at 413-404-5727.
