CONWAY — The Transfer Station Hazardous Waste Collection Site will be closed on Saturday because of the weather.

The site is usually open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first Saturday of each month. The Conway Transfer Station will be open as usual on Saturday.

Franklin County Solid Waste Management District manages three “supersites” for collection of the most common hazardous wastes. In addition to Conway, the site at the Bernardston Transfer Station is normally open the first Saturday of each month (9 to 11 a.m. from December to April and 8 a.m. to noon in the warmer months); the site at Colrain Transfer Station site is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The supersites provide district residents with the opportunity to dispose of motor oil, antifreeze, oil-based paint, paint thinner, fluorescent light bulbs, ballasts, rechargeable batteries, thermometers, thermostats and mercury-containing switches. Charges apply for disposal of some items.

For more information on disposal of hazardous materials, recycling, composting or other solid waste issues, call 413-772- 2438, email info@franklincountywastedistrict.org, or visit the district’s website at franklincountywastedistrict.org.
