GREENFIELD — A 25-year-old woman from Manchester, Connecticut faces four charges after allegedly leading police on a pursuit that ended at the Interstate 91 Exit 43 rotary in Greenfield.

According to Massachusetts State Police Trooper James DeAngelis, the pursuit began after a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle traveling southbound on Interstate 91 for speeding. However, the driver did not stop and led troopers on a pursuit until she got off the interstate at Exit 43 at around 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, at which time the Greenfield Police Department was advised to be on the lookout for the SUV.

The vehicle, a silver 2011 Honda CRV, struck another vehicle, also a Honda CRV, at the rotary, causing minor damage, and did not stop, according to DeAngelis.

Approximately three hours later, another officer contacted the registered owner of the offending vehicle, a 44-year-old man from Cheshire, Connecticut, and subsequently located the vehicle at a residence in Greenfield. According to DeAngelis, the driver was then questioned and issued four charges: failure to stop for police, unlicensed operation, speeding and leaving the scene of property damage. Rather than arrest her, State Police issued a criminal summons for her to appear in court at a later date.

DeAngelis added that troopers are looking into the vehicle’s registered owner to consider potential charges he might face.

In addition to State Police, the Greenfield Police and Fire departments responded to the Interstate 91 rotary.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, according to DeAngelis. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and the offending vehicle was towed.
