COLRAIN — Slippery driving conditions Wednesday afternoon contributed to a single-vehicle accident near the bottom of Colrain Mountain. No one was hurt.

According to the police, the driver of a Nissan truck lost control while traveling uphill on Greenfield Road away from the town center, barreling through a guardrail and landing in a ditch. Around 3:45 p.m., a tractor could be seen next to the truck, and firefighters directed traffic in a single lane around the accident.

“He hit his brakes too hard and lost it over the edge,” said Police Chief Chris Lannon. Emergency medical technicians checked the driver for injuries at the scene. In addition to local firefighters, Colrain Police Department and Colrain EMS were called to help.
