BERNARDSTON — The Kiwanis Club’s traditional chicken pot pie fundraiser returns this weekend as the club looks to raise money for future community events.

On Saturday, Feb. 25, residents can stop by the United Church of Bernardston at 58 Church St. for chicken pot pie and conversation. According to club member Dan Devine, money raised will support the Kiwanis Club’s events such as senior dinners and the Christmas tree lighting, scholarships and “anything that needs a little attention.”

“We always try to keep some money available for unforeseen circumstances or if anything comes up. Whether some group needs a little help or something, we try to help when we can,” Devine said.

The meal will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. with continuous serving available. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children. Takeout options are also available. A meal includes chicken pot pie, butternut squash, cranberry sauce, a roll, drinks and homemade carrot cake.

To reserve a meal for takeout, call Kiwanis Club member Joel Cole at 413-834-5484.

Devine said the club gave out at least 90 takeout meals and about 175 chicken pot pie dinners total at its last fundraiser, which raised $2,000 for the Pioneer Valley Regional School band’s trip to Virginia. Chicken pot pie suppers are held on the last Saturday of January, February, March and April.

Beyond the fundraising aspect, Devine said the chicken pot pie dinners are a great community builder and they always get great turnouts.

“We appreciate the people that come out,” Devine said. “We try to give them a good dinner and I think they like the pot pie.”
