GREENFIELD — Byrne Towing has expanded its services with the announcement of a partnership with U-Haul.

As a neighborhood dealer, Byrne Towing at 286 Federal St. now offers services such as U-Haul trucks, trailers, towing equipment, moving supplies and in-store pickup for boxes.

“We took over from Carquest (Auto Parts),” said Ben Byrne of Byrne Towing. “(U-Haul) approached us. Everybody is … moving and buying houses, so we’re having a hard time keeping trucks in stock.”

Byrne Towing is one of three partners in Greenfield, joining Yankee Self-Storage at 74 Mohawk Trail and Triton Automotive at 381 High St. Carquest, which joined as a partner in 2018, closed its U-Haul dealership earlier this year, according to Andrea Batchelor, media and public relations specialist at U-Haul International.

According to a U-Haul press release, when a customer rents through an independent dealer, they are directly supporting the local business.

“U-Haul has teamed with independent dealers to offer moving support since 1945,” the release states. “With the COVID-19 pandemic creating challenging times for small businesses, more than 20,000 dealers across the U.S. and Canada are creating supplemental income through their U-Haul partnership.”

To reserve U-Haul products through Byrne Towing, customers can call 413-774-4174 or visit bit.ly/3vOXYWi.

Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and all services can be booked online.
