Stop & Shop donates gift cards to food bank

HATFIELD — To help the growing number of families facing food insecurity in Massachusetts, Stop & Shop donated $12,500 in gift cards to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts as part of its turkey express program that helped community members get everything they needed for a Thanksgiving meal.

“The food bank is very grateful to Stop & Shop for its continued commitment to feeding our neighbors in need of food assistance during these difficult times,” Food Bank of Western Massachusetts Executive Director Andrew Morehouse said in a press release. “Stop & Shop has been a stalwart supporter of our mission for decades.”

In addition to the gift card donation to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, Stop & Shop donated 21,500 turkeys to 25 community partners and hunger relief organizations across its five-state footprint in advance of Thanksgiving.
