A pair of locals propelled the Westfield State women’s track and field team to a solid performance at the Corsair Classic at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday.

Greenfield’s Vicky Marin was third in the triple jump for the Owls, posting a top leap of 9.82 meters. In the long jump Marin was also third overall in 4.74 meters.

Rowe’s Grace Poplawski placed third in the 10,000 meter run in a personal best time of 41:49.56.

Cornhole

Hitchcock Brewing results

The duo of Aric Oakes and Jason Bassett captured first place at the weekly Hitchcock Brewing Company cornhole tournament on Sunday.

Fred Llewelyn and Jon Snow nabbed second place.

Deerfield results

The Big Green captured an impressive 16-7 win over Exeter in a girls water polo contest on Saturday in Deerfield.

Elsewhere, the boys lacrosse team fell to Brunswick, 21-10, while the girls lacrosse team dropped a 15-10 decision to Dexter Southfield. The ultimate team earned a 15-10 win.

Bowling

Missy Finn and Ed Skorupski rolled the high single (101) while Scott Schneider and Kendall Schneider rolled the high triple (280) in Sunday Scotch Doubles last week at the Shelburne Falls Bowling Alley. 

Finn rolled the women’s high single (103) and triple (296) while Bud Kingsley had the men’s high single (117) and Kyle Leger rolled the men’s high triple (330) in the Monday Mixed League. In the Wednesday Mixed League Jan Cole and Jenay Hall tied for the women’s high single (104) while Cole had the women’s high triple (279) while John Herron had the men’s high single (127) and triple (344). 

In the Thursday Mixed Social Colleen Barrows rolled the women’s high single (137) and triple (337) while Ray Dodge had the men’s high single (130) and triple (351).
