Bulletin board: Greenfield Post 81 Senior Legion still seeking players for Saturday tryout

Roster spots are still available for the Post 81 Senior Legion baseball team. All players from Franklin County schools are eligible to tryout. A player must be 19 years old or younger by Dec. 31, 2023. 

Tryouts will be held this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Vets Field in Greenfield. Those trying out should bring a glove, cleats and an original birth certificate. For more info contact coach Julian Diamond at 413-314-7166. 

Youth baseball

GMLB

Kyrie Petrizzi-Rio registered six hits, including a double, and two RBIs to help Fitzgerald Real Estate to a 36-11 win over Baker Financial in a GMLB AA contest on Thursday.

Vinny Toothaker also had six hits for Fitzgerald, while Ben Thompson had four hits (two doubles).

Baker’s Walker Kingsbury and Thomas Donohoe each had three hits, and Raylan Beckwith had two.

Elsewhere, AJ Holder, Toby Campbell (2 RBIs) and JJ Bones all had two hits to help Lundgren Honda defeat Aubuchon, 10-4, on Thursday.

Liam Bassett had three hits and pitched well for Aubuchon, while Michael Dixon and Jacob Miller each added a hit.

Timmons-Messer League

Rick Stempel and Rodney Ebbighausen notched the low gross of 35 to earn top marks at Wednesday’s Timmons-Messer League at Northfield Golf Club.

Match medalist with a 37 was Rob Schrader, followed closely by Ebbighausen (38). Schrader and Elton Kinsman took second with a 37, and low net went to Bob Moco and John Paresky (25). Jack Letourneau and Pete Lankowski (26) were second.

Matt Sykes was closest to the pin at No. 6 (8-7) and Paresky was closest at No. 7 (10-8).

Deerfield results

The Deerfield Academy girls lacrosse team scored an impressive 14-13 overtime win over Berkshire School on Wednesday to highlight a busy day of competition.

The boys lacrosse team fell to Salisbury, 8-6, while baseball fell to Avon Old Farms (21-20) and Loomis dropped a game to Loomis (8-2).
