Bulletin board: Less busy on Day 3 of Massachusetts shotgun deer hunting season

Numbers slowed down a bit on Wednesday, as Day 3 of the Massachusetts shotgun deer hunting season saw 43 deer checked at the four Franklin County reporting stations.

Greenfield’s Roland Clark took down a 193-pound, 8-point buck that was checked at Gould’s Sugarhouse in Shelburne, the largest buck harvested on Wednesday. Orange’s Robert Livingston checked a 10-point, 174-pound buck at Flagg’s Bait & Tackle in Orange.

Sawmill River 10K

Registration for the annual Sawmill River 10K is underway. 

The race is scheduled for Jan. 1, beginning at 10 a.m. near the Village Common on Main Street in Montague. Race day registration will begin at 9 a.m. at Montague Common Hall. The entry fe e is $35 if paid before Dec. 31 and $45 after. Hot and cold refreshments will be provided.
