Bulletin Board: Two locals finish in the top 10 at New England Track and Field Championship

The 74th New England Interscholastic Outdoor Track and Field Championship took place on Saturday in Bangor, Maine, and two locals earned top 10 finishes. 

Mohawk Trail’s Emmett Johnson continues to excel in the mile, where he finished sixth overall with a time of four minutes, 15.99 seconds. It was another school record for Johnson, who broke his previous mark set a few weeks ago at the MIAA Division 6 Championships by over four seconds (4:19.77).

Frontier’s Caroline Crocker had a big day by earning 10th in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 15.53 seconds. 

Fellow Redhawk Ayla Starr competed in the pole vault, where she earned 18th with a top vault of nine feet, nine inches.

GGSL

Hailey Sadler, Makenna Ward and Mia Beckwith all had three hits for Pristine Oriental in a 7-2 win over Franklin First Credit Union in a GGSL contest on Saturday. 

Marley Pratt tallied three hits and an RBI while Grace Hickey had three hits for Franklin First.

Bella Burnett struck out four while Emmalyn Talbot, Burnett, Marley Patridge, Nahla Smith, Rayna Kennedy, Celia Fox, Lexi Ares, Aaliyah Strange and Eligh Smith each hit safely and knocked in a run in the Athol/Orange Dig N Pour’s 14-6 win over West 2 in a 12U Babe Ruth game on Wednesday.

Messiah Maysonet had a single, two RBIs and scored a run, Xaviay Reynolds swiped three bases and scored two runs, and Jose Colon-Martinez had three hit and scored three runs as Maniatty's took down Hadley, 14-2, in a Majors Division contest on Saturday.

Maniatty's defense was led by Colon-Martinez, who pitched a complete game striking out 10.

• Bobby C’s DJ Service picked up an 11-9 win on Sunday over Denny’s Pantry.

Eli Skinder pitched three shutout innings for Bobby C’s. Ben Trombley made great contact for Denny’s.

• Noah Stoffolano was 3-for-3 with a home run and struck out three on the mound while Carson White was 3-for-4 with a double and triple in Gagne Wealth Management’s 10-6 win over Ruggeri Real Estate.

Yusef Bensen had two hits for Gagne and Mason Lovett flashed some leather in the field.

Ruggeri’s had contributions from Cody Castine (three hits, including a double), and Gabe Heineman (three hits, including a double). John Vera-Dreyer also had a hit.

• Oscar Lizotte had five hits and four RBIs while Wesley Lehman tallied four hits and four RBIs in Terrazza’s 16-3 win over Gruber and Tripp on Saturday in a Rookie Division contest. 

Tadhg Boyle had two hits and an RBI while Asher Tripp knocked three hits and an RBI for Gruber and Tripp. 

• Noah Knox and Luciano Stoffolano each knocked three hits while JJ Bones had a grand slam and struck out seven in Lundgren Honda’s 11-5 win over Aubuchon Hardware on Saturday. 

Liam Bassett had two hits and struck out five, Micahel Dixon and Hunter Williams had a hit while Jacob Miller homered for Aubuchon. 

• In a AAA game on Saturday Brady Selivanoff knocked Christian Powell in for the game-winning run while Brock Puchalski played a strong game in Rotary Club’s 10-9 win over Bobby C’s. 

Elias Tripp had who hits and Eli skinder pitched well for Bobby C’s. 

•  In another AAA game, New Fortune defeated Smitty’s Pub 7-3 as Sam Lawler and Collin Winslow (home run) each had two hits for New Fortune while Kaydin Snow-Rose and Elijah Lawler each scored two runs.

Emmett Escamilla and Adrian Lopez each had hits and runs scored for Smitty’s.

• In a AA game on Saturday Dezmond Jurkowski had four hits and a pair of RBIs, Noah Marguet had three hits including a double, Braith Brothers knocked two hits, one a double, and an RBI and Kyrie Petrizzi-Richmond struck out three in Fitzgerald Real Estate’s 14-9 victory over Baker Financial. 

Lily Beckwith hit safely while Jake Beudoin and Sam Edson had four hits for Baker. 

• In AAA action on Friday Adrian Lopez had three hits while PJ Brodeur and Preston Charboneau each had two hits for Smitty’s Pub in an 11-11 tie with Bobby C’s. 

Isaac Tripp had three hits while Anthony Bergstrom and Emerson Maxam tallied two hits for Bobby C’s. 

• In a AA contest on Friday Orion Lindemann knocked four hits and Clara Behan had the game-winning RBI in Ginger Cat Sealcoating’s 16-15 win over Liberty Tax. 

Jacob Renaud had four hits and Isiah Ramos homered for Liberty Tax. 

Golf

CCG Elks

Bill Erman and Paul Viens took first (31 points), Greg Call and Bob Zaikowski took second (30) while Frank McDonald and Art Belanger tied with Gary Noga and Randy Bernard for third (26.5) in the Greenfield Elks League this past week. 

Luigi Pederzini won closest to the pin on No. 2 (26 feet, five inches) and Jim Elwell won on No. 5 (13-6).
