Bulletin Board: GMLB AAA, AA championship series both kick off

The Greenfield Minor League Baseball AAA Division championship series got underway on Wednesday at Lunt Field, with Pioneer Valley Tire jumping out to an early lead and not giving it up to take a 1-0 series lead over Denny’s Pantry with a 12-7 victory. 

Paul Budrawich got the win on the mound and knocked three hits at the plate. Fischer Williams and Riley Gray each added two hits in the win. 

Ben Trombley, Quest Peterson and Jay Philstetler each recorded two hits for Denny’s.  

The opening game of the GMLB AA championship series also took place on Wednesday, with Noah Stoffolano knocking six hits and striking out three on the mound, Blake White cracking six hits and Yusef Bensen recording five hits in Gagne Wealth Management’s 33-13 win over Fitzgerald Real Estate. 

Kyrie Petrizzi-Richmond had three hits, Vinny Toothaker cracked three hits including a double and Braith Brothers knocked a double and a single for Fitzgerald. 

■ In action Tuesday, Noah Crommett had two doubles, Andrew Gardner knocked two hits, Ben Shivone homered while Parker Gerry and Trombley hit safely in Denny’s 7-5 win over New Fortune, lifting Denny’s to the GMLB AAA finals. 

Sean Winslow, Tyler Pietrowski, Blake Grover and Collin Winslow hit safely for New Fortune.

GGSL

Behind two hits from Lindsey Hawkins, hits from Bella Trinque, Raine Wonsey and Lenyx White, a home run from Lexi Hawkins and 10 strikeouts from Wonsey, Triton Automotive advanced to the GGSL Ponytail Division championship game with a 17-0 win over Camelot Carpet Cleaners on Tuesday. 

Ivy Bettencourt and Kaylin Sevioan both had a hit for Camelot. 

Franklin County League

Cassie Dion had a pair of triples and knocked in two runs, Josie Dubay tripled, singled and brought in a run while Kaylie Severance, Charlotte Bishop, Haven Jones and Kennedy Unaitis each had a hit and an RBI as the Wolfpack earned a 14-6 win over the Menace on Wednesday in a FCL Summer Softball game at Murphy Park. 

Skyler Steele homered, singled and drove in a run, Raine Wonsey had a hit and two RBIs, Alison George doubled and brought in a run while Stephanie Barton, Aleysha Ramos and Alexa Peters hit safely for the Menace.

Franklin Tech Summer League

The Franklin Tech Summer Girls Basketball League got its third season underway on Tuesday, with Mahar opening the night with a 49-14 win over Athol behind 11 points from Hayden Comeau, nine points from Nevaeh Scribner and Alivia Patch and eight points from Taylor Paluk and Dakota Cleveland. 

Jenna Bonenfant scored five points while Anna Duquette had four points for the Bears. 

The second game of the night saw Pioneer knock off Hopkins, 40-14, behind 12 points from Addison Harrington, nine points from Hailey Ring, eights from Fota N’Diaye and six points from Leah Potter. Chloe Kosciusko led the Golden Hawks with four points. 

The third game of the night saw Harper Modesto score 12 points, Claire Kirkendall toss in 11 points, Jazzy Hayes scored seven points and Delaney Fifield, Hailey Hutkoski and Molly Gates each scoring six points as Frontier beat Greenfield, 59-20. Amber Bergeron scored 17 points while Anna Bucala chipped in two points for the Green Wave. 

Closing out the night Franklin Tech earned a 27-8 win over Mohawk Trail, with Lea Chapman tossing in eight points, Cordelia Guerin scoring five points, Lilianna Inman tallying four points and Kyra Goodell finishing with three points for the Eagles. 

Abi Dobias scored three points while Irelyn Marcoux and Zephyr Jetzon each had two points for the Warriors. 

Golf

Thomas Memorial

Mike Lorden (plus-8) and Bill Chalmers (plus-6) had the top two point quotas in the Knights of Columbus League at Thomas Memorial on Wednesday.

Scott Waldron, Ken Adams and Frank Penny won skins while Bob Walker won closest to the pin on No. 7 (two feet, three inches) and Rod Herzig won on No. 9 (19-1).

Pioneer Valley Women’s League

Megan West had four hits and Jenelle Wilkins knocked three hits in Conway’s 16-15 win over Ashfield in a Pioneer Valley Women’s Softball League contest on Tuesday. 

Nikki Pullen and Taylor Boutwell each had three hits in the loss. 

Greenfield co-ed

Jake Perkins had four hits, Nick Aldrich recorded six hits while Chris Arsenault and Britt Senn each had three hits in the Tavern’s 18-11 win over Lightlife Food on Wednesday in a Greenfield co-ed softball game. 

Rachel Dodge cracked four hits and Carly Blanchard had three hits for Lightlife.
