Bulletin Board: DiSciullo runs in score as Senior Bulldogs defeat South Hadley

Joey DiSciullo ran in a touchdown and recorded a pick-six to lift the Franklin County Senior Bulldogs to an 18-0 Suburban League win over South Hadley on Saturday. 

Julian James also ran in a touchdown in the win. Taygen Daignault had a 20-yard run, Julian James had a big catch to set up a score while Coleton Savolevski and James combined for 10 tackles for the Bulldogs. 

Elsewhere the Junior Bulldogs picked up a 27-12 win over South Hadley behind rushing and receiving touchdowns from Finn Coffin. 

Coffin added an interception while Ben Woodard had six tackles and Xaviay Reynolds ran for 162 yards and a score for the Bulldogs. 

Frontier youth football

Jack Carney, Johnny Stanisewski and Tyson Serpone each had a touchdown to lead the Frontier PeeWee’s to a 20-7 win over Northampton on Saturday. Stanisewski added a two-point try. 

Later, Prestyn Petrizzi-Richmond ran for three touchdowns and forced a fumble to lead the Frontier Juniors to a 26-0 win over Northampton. Teague Washburn connected with Carter Greene for a touchdown in the victory while Jordan Wentzel and Cameron Caney had a strong game on the line. Aiden Pitchko added a two-point try. 

Festival of the Hills

The Festival of the Hills Race took place on Sunday in Conway, with Luke Nugent coming out the winner with a time of 39 minutes, 57 seconds.

Mark Staples took second (40:18) while Grant Ritter came in third (40:45). Noah Berman (41:27) and Taylor Williams (42:40) rounded out the top five. Bridget Macdonald was the top female finisher (46:24) followed by JoEllen Reino (48:35) and Jennifer Schimmel (49:11). 

Touch football

Joseph Colon ran in an eight-yard touchdown that lifted the Blitzing Bears to an 18-12 overtime win over the Namaste Rockets on Sunday in a Greenfield Touch Football League game. 

Colon added a second touchdown run while also hitting Tony Scuggs for a touchdown pass in the victory. RJ Byrd had a pick-six while Jordan Markham Sr. found Lew borden for a six-yard touchdown for the Rockets. 

Later Mak Rodgers found Bryce Marcellius for a touchdown while hooking up with Julio Feliciano for a pair of scores in Amherst Office Park’s 18-7 win over Sirum. Malcolm Smith ran in a touchdown for Sirum. Mercellius (2) and Feliciano had interceptions while Parker Hickey had a pick in the loss. 

To close out the day Gill Wood Working shut out Team Cerious, 44-0, behind seven touchdown passes from Pat Viencek. Jalen Sanders (3), Adam Bastarache (2), Malachi Roman and Kashon Brantley were on the receiving end of Viencek’s touchdown passes while Alex Bourassa had two picks in the victory. 

Bowling

Scott Schneider and Kendall Schneider rolled the high single (141) and triple (356) in Sunday Scotch Doubles at the Shelburne Falls Bowling Alley last week. 

Jen Tobey (94) had the women’s high single, Missy Finn (248) had the women’s high triple, John Rodger (128) had the men’s high single and John Herron had the men’s high triple (326) in the Monday Mixed League. Karen Herzog rolled the women’s high single (102) and triple (281), Chris Rice had the men’s high single (118) and Dave Livingstone had the men’s high triple (311) in the Wednesday Mixed League. 

In the Thursday Mixed Social Nick Brown had the men’s high single (116) and triple (307), Paula Bird had the women’s high single (107) and Colleen Barrows had the women’s high triple (279).
