Bulletin Board: Bob Walker sinks ace at CCG

Gill’s Bob Walker sank his fourth career hole-in-one on Thursday at the Country Club of Greenfield. 

Walker sank the ace on hole No. 5 and did so using an 8-iron.

Jim Elwell, Pete Quintana and Bobby Wondoloski witnessed the shot. 

Gary Stacy outing

The foursome of Matt Pitoniak, Hap Eaton, Bill Luippold and Kevin Piecuch carded the low gross of 55 in the Gary Stacy Memorial Scholarship Outing at the Country Club of Greenfield on Thursday. 

Kasey Nagle, Martin Spallone, Aaron Dowd and Steve Diagammo took second (58) while Daniel Gavin, Doug Muehlberg and Casey Downie came in third (59). 

John Stacy, Scott Stacy, Keith Schempp and David McDonald shot the low net of 53 followed by Neil Black, Tom Henry, Jim Capan and Scott Powers (53) and Chris Sacco, Sue O’Connor, Karren Sacco and Hank Jablonski (54).

Sally Malloy carded the low gross of 41 while Janet Twyon finished with the low net score of 28 in the Thomas Women’s League at Thomas Memorial on Wednesday. 

Malloy also won closest to the pin on No. 7 (five feet, three inches). 

Timmons-Messer League

Dan Grybko and Pete Blake won a match of cards over Norm LaCoy and Pete Lankowski to finish with the low gross of 35 in the Timmons-Messer League at the Northfield Golf Course on Wednesday. 

The pairings of Tad Mosher and Dave Bonnett (23) and Ken Duffy and Ed Gillespie (25) carded the two low net scores. LaCoy won closest to the pin on No. 6 (7-2) while Mosher won on No. 7 (11 inches). Andy Sena and Dan Arsenault were the match medalists (36).

Basketball

Instructional classes for
officials

The Franklin County Basketball Officials Association will conduct instructional classes for those interested in becoming a basketball referee this October. 

Members of the FCBOA referee scholastic games of all levels at public and private schools in Franklin and Hampshire County. Classes will be conducted at the Deerfield Inn during convenient evening hours. 

FCBOA members must submit to a background check administered by the MIAA. FCBOA members are expected to develop and demonstrate good rules knowledge and exhibit fitness necessary to supervise properly scholastic games.

Adult softball

Greenfield co-ed

Matt Gibson had four hits and four RBIs, Brett Turban knocked two hits, Codie Chapin doubled twice while Josh Lashway had a pair of hits and RBIs as Hot-L Warren earned a 14-4 win over the Liberty Tax Sharks in a Greenfield co-ed adult softball playoff game on Wednesday. 

Mike Cole had four hits, Sean O’Connor finished with three hits and two RBIs while Whitney Roberts had three hits in the loss.
