Bulletin Board: Ashlie Galenski, Macy DeMaio score in Frontier field hockey’s win over Belchertown

Goals from Ashlie Galenski and Macy DeMaio lifted the Frontier field hockey team to a 2-1 to an independent victory over the Orioles in Belchertown on Monday. 

Stella Heflin assisted Galenski’s goal while Ashley Taylor had the assist on DeMaio’s tally. Kyra Richards made two saves in the win. 

Franklin Tech 2, Smith Academy 0 — The Eagles opened the scoring in the second quarter and added a goal late to knock off the Falcons in Hatfield Monday. 

Avery Heathwaite got Franklin Tech on the board off a dish from AbiDobias before KenzieSourdiffe-Phelps sealed the win with a goal in the final minute off an assist from Hannah Gilbert. 

Greenfield 5, West Springfield 0 — Grace Laurie scored a pair of goals and added an assist while the Green Wave defense didn’t allow a shot on goal, as they cruised to a victory in West Springfield Monday. 

McKenzie Boswell scored and tallied two assists, Madi Lemay and Henley Gilstrap each scored a goal while Riley Thayer dished two assists in the win. 

Mahar 1, Palmer 1 — Ava DeJacome scored in the first quarter, helping the Sens earn a tie at the Woodward Complex Monday. 

Kathryn McGinnis provided the assist while Bella Burnett made one save for Mahar.

Frontier 0, South Hadley 0 — Redhawk Jack Cusson stopped all three shots he faced in goal but Frontier was also unable to find the back of the net which led to a scoreless draw in South Hadley Monday. 

Tiger Noah Carillon made nine saves. 

Pioneer 1, Granby 0 — Scoreless at the half, Panther Jackson Glazier tallied on a hard shot from 18 yards out in the 72nd minute and the Rams were unable to get the equalizer, as Pioneer pulled out an all-important Schmid   League victory in Granby Monday. 

Gavin Gammell made seven saves in the win. 

 Volleyball

Franklin Tech 3, Ware 0 — Shelby O’Leary led the way with three aces, two digs and 12 assists as the Eagles rolled to a 25-10, 25-14, 25-20 win over host Ware Monday. 

Jenna Petrowicz recorded five kills, three digs, one assist and one block while Taylor Underwood tallied three aces, one kill and two digs in the win.

Field hockey

Sutton 1, Frontier 0 — In a battle between the Sammies — the No. 2 ranked team in the Div. 4 state tournament — and the No. 6 ranked Redhawks, it was the Sutton defense who pitched the shutout, leading to a victory in Sutton Saturday.

The loss snapped an 11-game unbeaten streak from Frontier. Kyra Richards made four saves for the Redhawks. 

Volleyball

Frontier 3, Nantucket 1 
Frontier 3, Ludlow 2 —
The Redhawks hosted the Whalers and the Lions on Saturday at Goodnow Gymnasium, with Frontier going 2-0 on the day. 

The Redhawks walked away with a 25-18, 20-25, 25-20, 25-17 win over Nantucket and followed with a 24-26, 25-23, 25-18, 24-26, 15-11 triumph over Ludlow. 

Against the Whalers, Abigail Hernandez put down 14 kills and one ace to go along with 11 digs, Olivia Machon smashed nine kills and made five digs, Bailey Martin tallied seven kills and two digs while Parrish Stilla dished 40 assists. 

In the win over the Lions, Hernandez cracked 19 kills and three aces, Martin tallied nine kills, Machon recorded seven kills, Emilie Candaleria put down six kills, Hannah Davis made 23 digs and Stilla dished 39 assists.
