The Amherst Flag Football League winter season came to an end over the weekend, with Dope Boyz taking down Elm, 14-7, in the 2024 Bubble Bowl.

Playoff MVP Antonio Colon Jr. returned an interception for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, and Reni Baez recorded a strip sack on the ensuing drive that sealed the deal for Dope Boyz.

Elm opened the scoring on a TD pass from QB Pat Viencek to Trent Harris with less than a minute left in the first half. MVP Marquis Eberhart quickly responded and led the Dope Boyz to a halftime lead with a touchdown to Colon Jr. Eberhart ran in the two-point conversion to give Dope Boyz the 8-7 lead.

Bemi Morgan, Gio Ortiz and Dominick Whitley all played well for Dope Boyz, along with Calvin Roman (two sacks). Skizz Drilly had a sack and a solid game on the defensive line for Elm paired, and Adam Bastarache and Chris Hart played well at receiver for Elm.

Elm beat the Tarheels, 20-0, in the semifinals when Harris scored a long TD on the second play of the game.

Viencek led the way with two passing TDs to Harris and a one-handed TD grab by Kayshawn Brantley. Aaron Warren and Chase Meadows powered a stout defensive effort for Elm.

Curtis and Calvin Dowers had strong games for the Tarheels, along with Demetrius Mitchell.

The league is looking to expand next winter (season will run from mid-December through UMass’ winter break). For more information, contact Mak Rodgers (413-325-7055). The league was sponsored by Elm Electrical, J&J Athletics and Amherst Office Park.
