Bulletin Board: GMLB opening day takes place on Sunday

Greenfield Minor League Baseball’s season officially got underway on Sunday morning, with teams making their way to Lunt Field for the opening ceremony. 

Games followed, with Terrazza defeating Martin’s Farm, 6-4, in Rookie Division action after Wesley Lehman knocked two hits and Oscar Lizotte added a hit in the win. 

Aiden Martin and Shea Nicholas each had two hits for Martin’s Farm. 

■ In AAA action on Sunday Preston Charboneau and Emmitt Escamilla each knocked two hits while Liam Gould homered, singled and struck out seven on the mound and Adrian Lopez struck out five in Smitty’s Pub’s 9-4 victory over Bobby C’s. 

Eli Skinder struck out six and Emerson Maxam also pitched for Bobby C’s. 

■ Christian Powell tallied three hits, Jackson Puchalski had two hits and Blake Minor got on twice in Rotary’s 8-7 win over Aubuchon Hardware on Sunday in a AAA game. 

Michael Dixon recorded three hits and Liam Bassett and Corbin Pease hit safely for Aubuchon. 

■ In AA action on Sunday, Gagne Wealth Management picked up a 23-10 win over Ruggeri’s behind six hits, five RBIs and three strikeouts on the mound for Carson White, five hits and four RBIs from Yusuf Bensen and five hits and two strikeouts on the mound from Jason Philstetler.

Gabe Heineman tripled and brought in three runs, Bryce Urkiel had three hits including a triple and Cody Castine had two hits while striking out two on the mound for Ruggeri’s. 

■ Mason Lovett had four hits, one a double, and three RBIs, Blake White knocked four hits and brought in three runs while Noah Stoffolano struck out three in Gagne Wealth Management’s 15-12 win over Liberty Tax on Sunday. 

Andrew Quintana had three hits and struck out three while Isaiah Ramos had three hits and four RBIs for Liberty Tax. 

■ Kaydin Snow-Rose struck out five, Sean Winslow had two hits including an inside-the-park home run and Tyler Pietrowski doubled to lift New Fortune to a 10-3 triumph over Pioneer Valley Tire on Sunday. 

Ben Woodard knocked two hits, one a double, and Fischer Williams had two hits for Pioneer Valley Tire. 

■ Bodie Burke allowed just one hit on the mound and added a hit at the plate while Casey Burke and Carter Malouin each added hits in Gilmore and Farrell’s 7-2 victory against Maniatty’s on Sunday. 

Aaron Meuse had Maniatty’s lone hit. 

■On Saturday, Josh James had a home run, a triple and two singles while Harlon Hickey pitched and had three hits at the plate in Ginger Cat Sealcoating’s 6-5 win over Baker Financial in a AA contest. 

Sam Edson and Lily Melissa Beckwith led Baker in the loss. 

■ In a majors contest, Conner Bergeron struck out 12 and tripled, Aaron Meuse tripled while Amasa Shippee, Xaviay Reynolds and Osiah Ballard each had three hits to lead Maniatty’s to a 16-3 win over Hadley on Saturday. 

■ In a AAA game, Ben Shivone struck out 11, Andrew Gardner and Parker Gerry each had three hits while Noah Crommett, Ben Trombley and Shivone each had two hits to lift Denny’s Pantry to a 14-5 win over Rotary on Saturday. 

Christian Powell had two hits while Brodie Gilbert hit safely in the loss. 

■ Bryce Zraunig, Asa Bouchard and Casey Burke pitched Gilmore and Farrell to a 7-4 win over Turners on Saturday. 

Carter Malouin tallied two hits, Jakobb George doubled, JJ Bones hit safely and Bodie Burke smashed a home run in the victory. 

■ Braith Brothers and Damien McCarthy each knocked two hits and Owen Little struck out two in Fitzgerald Real Estate’s 5-1 win over Liberty Tax on Saturday. 

Malachi Hickey and Isiah Ramos each had a hit for Liberty Tax. 

■ Blake Grover was a home run away from the cycle, Tyler Pietrowski had three hits including a double and Elijah Lawler doubled in New Fortune’s 22-12 win over Bobby C’s on Saturday. 

Connor O’Connell doubled and Emerson Maxam hit safely for Bobby C’s. 

■ On AAA action on Friday Logan Batiste struck out six and added a home run, JJ Bones was a homer away from the cycle and struck out five and Everett Turner doubled in Lundgren Honda’s 10-9 win over New Fortune. 

Kaydin Snow-Rose struck out four, Colin Winslow struck out six and Sean Winslow had a hit that brought in two runs for New Fortune. 

Youth softball

Evelyn Eldridge and Dani Zraunig both knocked three hits while Elis LaPrade tallied two hits in Franklin First’s 2-1 win over Precision Driving on Saturday. 

Anabelle Marciano and Penelope Gioules each had three hits for Precision.

High schools

Softball

Wahconah 12, Frontier 10 — The Redhawks nearly pulled itself out of a 7-1 hole going into the top of the fourth, rallying to cut the lead to 12-10 in the seventh but left the game-tying runner on second in a Franklin County League West loss to the Warriors in Dalton on Sunday. 

Frontier scored seven in the seventh, with Addy Woods cracking a bases clearing triple. Lu Fifield cleared the bases once again two batters later with a triple that gave the Redhawks an 8-7 lead. 

Jazzy Hayes knocked three hits, Fifield added an RBI single, Skyler Steele had two hits and an RBI, Ashley Taylor, Hailey Hutkoski, Sophia Pinardi and Gabby Adams all had two hits while Liv Machon hit safely in the loss. 

Pioneer 23, Athol 20 — Emma Petersen smashed a solo home run and a three-run homer while Avery Johnson, Allison Clary and Kelly Baird each had a hit to lift the Panthers to a Franklin County League East win over the Bears on Friday. 

Baird got the win on in the circle. 

Tapanga Chapalonis brought in three with a double and Jenna Bonenfant drove in two with a base hit for Athol. 

Ultimate

Four Rivers played a pair of games over the weekend at the NMH Ultimate Tournament, falling to Lone Peak, Utah (13-4) and Lexington (13-11). 

Kolin Broderick had four goals and an assist and Zayne Appel scored twice for the Otters. 

Deerfield results

Here are Saturday’s Deerfield Academy results: girls lacrosse lost to Hotchkiss (15-9), baseball fell to Worcester Academy (5-0), boys tennis lost to Choate (5-2), girls water polo fell to Williston (14-5) and ultimate fell to NMH in the championship game of the NMH Ultimate Tournament. 

Golf

Bob Ewart of Greenfield knocked in a hole-in-one on Saturday at the Country Club of Greenfield. 

The ace came on No. 11, with Ewart using a 6-iron. It was the second of his career and was witnessed by Paul French and Bill Clough.
