It was a fourth quarter to remember for the Greenfield girls basketball team on Friday against Mahar. 

The Green Wave found themselves trailing the Sens 29-22 heading into the final frame, but the Greenfield defense hunkered down and held Mahar to just four points in the final eight minutes. 

The Green Wave meanwhile put 13 points on the board in the fourth to come away with a 35-33 Franklin County League North victory in Orange. 

Greenfield knocked down three 3’s in the fourth, with Josie Cloutier, Carly Blanchard and Amber Bergeron connecting on shots from deep to help lead the Green Wave comeback. Cloutier and Bergeron each tossed in 11 points, Blanchard scored seven points, Elderina Cecunjanin tallied four points while Gloria McDonald had two points in the victory. 

Nevaeh Scribner had a game-high 14 points for the Senators. Kendrah Doane added nine points, Hayden Comeau scored six points and Sophia Woods finihsed with four points in the loss. 

Frontier 43, Lenox 32 — Leading 20-16 at the half, the Redhawks outscored the Millionaires 23-16 in the final 16 minutes of action to pull away with a Franklin County League North win at Goodnow Gymnasium Friday. 

Kylie Laford led the way with 15 points in the victory, with Claire Kirkendall, Delaney Fifield and Hailey Hutkoski each tossing in six points. Brianna Storozuk tallied five points and Madison McKemmie added four points for Frontier. 

Deerfield results

Two Deerfield Academy teams were in action Friday, with the DA boys hockey team coming from behind to earn a 4-4 tie with Millbrok. 

Up in New Hampshire, the DA girls hockey team lost to New Hampton, 5-4. 

Rodgers Medals with USA Curling

Leyden native Rebecca Rodgers and Team USA curling will be walking away from Lake Placid with a bronze medal at the 2023 FISU World University Games. 

Rodgers helped lead the U.S. to the bronze medal game on Friday, where Team U.S.A. earned a 7-3 victory over Great Britain. 

Playing in the lead position, Rodgers led the U.S. in clockwise rotation percent, finishing the contest at 86 percent in the category. 

Greenfield Elks Pitch League

John Richardson, Pete Quintana, Tom McDonald, Sharon Rawson and Tim Wondoloski tied for first with 11 points in the Greenfield Elks Pitch League this past week. 

Joe Ch arron, Bob Wondoloski, Neil Black and Roxanne Goulet tied for second with 10 points while Jim Elwell took third with nine points. 

 Greenfield basketball bingo night

The Greenfield High School basketball boosters are hosting bingo night on Saturday, Jan. 21. at the Greenfield Elks Club. 

The doors open at 6 p.m. with games beginning a t 7 p.m. There will be cash prizes and raffles with a cash bar. The event benefits the Greenfield boys and girls basketball programs.
