Bulletin: Athol seeks coach, youth leagues continue

Athol High School is currently seeking a head coach for its girls varsity basketball team.

Youth baseball


Quinn Gibbons smacked four hits and scored two runs, Quincy Audet had two hits and three runs, and Emmett Escamilla added two htis and two runs as Pioneer Valley Tire upended Liberty Tax, 16-5, in AA action on Monday at Lunt Field.

Naliyya Monserette tallied three hits for Liberty Tax, while Angel Monserette and Ryan Turner each added two hits.

■ In Majors action, New Fortunes edged Gilmore and Farrell, 2-0, thanks to a two-hit, nine-strikeout performance on the mound from Conner Bergeron. Wayde Bardwell singled and scored a run.

Jackson Glazier struck out 10 for Gilmore and Farrell, while Cody Yetter was solid behind the plate and added a hit along with Nick Prasol.

■ Elsewhere, Lundgren Honda defeated Fitzgerald Real Estate, 19-3, thanks to two scoreless innings on the mound from Owen Castine and two doubles at the plate from Brantley Godfrey.

The Fitzgerald offense was paced by Evemarie Page who connected for a single and a triple.

■ Wyatt Wilkins, Yufef Bensen, Brantley Godfrey and Owen Castine each tallied three hits as Lundgren Honda picked up a 15-9 win over Pioneer Valley Tire in AA action on Sunday. 

Adrian Lopez knocked a single and a double while Charlie Dillensneider had a pair of singles and three RBIs for Pioneer Valley Tire. 

■ Josh James, Everett Turner, Luciano Stoffolano and Michael Locke all had three hits in Bobby C’s DJ Service’s 14-10 win over Fitzgerald Real Estate on Sunday. 

Evemarie Page had two hits and a home run, Sebastian Gargone had three hits and Carson White hit safely twice for Fitzgerald.

■ In other opening day action, Ben Thompson had four hits and Malachi Hickey had three to lift Baker Financial to an 11-8 win over Gruber & Tripp Law.

Gruber & Tripp’s Vinny Toothaker and Will Simanski had three hits apiece.

Youth softball


Ayva Quiles-Call went 3-for-3, while teammate Emma Tuttle had a pair of hits in Emblem Club’s 3-1 win over Gilmore and Farrell in Lil Nippers action on Monday at Murphy Park.

Gilmore and Farrell’s Layla Bailey and Charley Deane each went 3-for-3.

■ Elsewhere, Greenfield Garden Cinemas took the win over Triton Automotive, 17-5, thanks to Mia Shawk (3-for-3, grand slam and inside-the-park HR) and Izzy Allen (single).

For Triton Automotive, Jaelyn Boliski and Lexi Hawkins combined for 11 strikeouts.


Shelburne Falls scores

Jen Tobey rolled the women’s high single (106) and triple (281) scores while Kyle Leger had the men’s high single (117) and Chris Rice had the men’s high triple (302) in the Monday League at the Shelburne Falls Bowling Alley last week. 

Eric Wasileski tallied the men’s high single (115) and triple (314) scores in the Wednesday League. Gail Johnston had the women’s high single (103) and Marilyn Wilson had the women’s high triple (285) score.
