Local roundup: Franklin County Babe Ruth teams tangle in Greenfield

It was a battle between Franklin County Babe Ruth squads on Sunday at Abercrombie Field.

Franklin County Green took an early lead off a two-run double by Aidan Heffernan in the second inning and never looked back, resulting in a 9-3 win over Franklin County Gray, 9-3.

Tyler Cusson and Kyle Begos knocked in RBIs in the win for FC Green, with Cusson, Brayden McDonough and Ben Werner recording hits. Cusson earned the win on the mound, striking out eight in three innings of work. Urijah Jenness came on in relief and struck out two in two innings of action.

Max Skribiski-Banack turned an unassisted double play for FC Green at third base.

Morgan Softic got the start for FC Gray, striking out a pair of batters. Dylan Richardson pitched in relief, tossing a strong three innings and recording four strikeouts. 

Olivia Noyes drilled a single up the middle in the loss.

Mohawk/Frontier knocks off Greenfield

Ben Martino came on and pitched well in relief, earning the save with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless action as Mohawk/Frontier knocked off Greenfield Crocker Communications, 11-3, in Fall Ball action on Saturday in Buckland.

Cam Lococo got the win, striking out three in four-plus innings of action. Tyler Dubreuil and Rosco Palmer had two hits apiece for the hosts, while Lococo drove in a run and Martino (hit, RBI) and Cullen Brown (hit, two stolen bases) also contributed.

Greenfield's Ryan Pulizari was 2-for-3 with a run, and Tyler Podolski (hit, run), Devin Dubie (sacrifice fly), Nick Crocker (hit), TJ Thibeault (hit, RBI), Braeden Tsipenyuk (RBI) and Michael Pierce (hit) chipped in offensively.

On Sunday, Greenfield dropped a 5-2 decision to Hatfield despite a solid four inning relief stint by Tsipenyuk (three strikeouts).

Podolski and Alex Gochinski slugged two hits apiece to lead the Greenfield attack. Other contributors were Pulizari (hit, run), Crocker (hit, run), Jackson Campbell (hit) and Pierce (hit).
