Bulletin Board: LeBlanc, Squirts sweep pair

Caedmon LeBlanc scored the first three goals of the game, and his hat trick propelled the FCHA Greenfield Savings Bank Squirt Greens to a 7-1 win over Holy Name White in a Greater Springfield League Squirt Division game Sunday at Collins-Moylan Arena in Greenfield.

Stefan Flaska, Wade Bardwell, Chase Zraunig and Jack Laurie all found the back of the net in the victory, with assists coming from Luca Siano and Vincent Grima.

Jay McGinnis recorded 15 saves, with Carter Schloat and Hayden Ardrey pacing the defensive effort.

• In Saturday action, Zraunig, Flaska and Bardwell all tallied twice and FCHA blasted Holy Name Black, 8-2, at the Olympia Ice Center in West Springfield.

LeBlanc and Siano had the other goals in the win, and Siano added an assist on a Zraunig first-period goal.

McGinnis made 12 saves, with support defensively from Ardrey and Braedon Talbot.

Youth basketball

Greenfield SL sweeps

Maverick Ward scored a game-high 20 points to help Greenfield knock off Frontier, 49-39, in a Suburban League grades 7 and 8 basketball game Sunday in South Deerfield.

Dante Ruggiano added 10 points, while Amber Bergeron came up big with 9 points for Greenfield.

In action Saturday, Ward poured in 21 points to help Greenfield defeat Southampton, 46-33, at Greenfield High School.

Ruggiano had 8 points and Ryan Pulizari added 6.

Turners SL beats Pioneer

Logan Addison’s 17 points led four players in double figures to help Turners Falls beat Pioneer, 83-22, in a Suburban League grades 7 and 8 boys basketball game Saturday in Northfield.

Jake Lavin and Hugh Cyhowski scored 12 points apiece, while Cayden Lehtomaki notched 11 points for Turners.

KOC Hoop Shoot

The Greenfield Knights of Columbus Council 133 will hold its Hoop Shoot Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Greenfield YMCA.

The competition is open to all girls and boys in Franklin County between the ages of 9 and 14 as of Jan. 1. Age group winners will advance to the District Championships in February also at the Greenfield YMCA.

Registration begins at 3 and the competition takes place immediately after.

F.C. Babe Ruth meeting

The Franklin County Babe Ruth Baseball League will hold a meeting Wednesday at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at St. Kazimierz Society in Turners Falls on the first floor.

Topics will include the player college scholarship fund, committee and executive board openings, national charter and plans for the 2019 season. All parents of those players that have aged out of area Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken programs are encouraged to attend this informational meeting.
