Bulletin Board: Frontier Middle School hoops downs Eaglebrook

Danny Fellows and Joe Thomson scored 8 points apiece, leading Frontier Regional School to a 48-41 victory over Eaglebrook School in a middle school boys’ basketball game Monday at Goodnow Gymnasium in South Deerfield.

Pat Boyden and Ty Sadowski tossed in 7 points each in the Frontier victory.

Eaglebrook’s Owen Zinn-Keane, a Sunderland resident, helped his team with a team-high 8 points.

GMS boys win

Drew Conant scored 14 points Monday to lead Greenfield Middle School to a 52-17 win over Mahar Middle School in a boys’ basketball game.

David Carey netted 11 points in the win, while Sam Gibson, Deion Brewington and Ryan Cote each chipped in with 6.

Greenfield improved to 10-1 on the season.

GMS girls fall to Mahar

Three players scored 4 points but the Greenfield Middle School girls’ basketball team dropped a 21-12 decision to Mahar Regional School Monday afternoon.

Amber Bergeron, Angie Rivera and Aneesa Brewer all finished with 4 points for the Green Wave. The defense received solid contributions from Brie Widelo, Josie Cloutier and Zaday Fuentes.

Mahar indoor track

Anna Wetherbee placed fourth in the long jump, setting a new school indoor record of 16 feet, 6 inches, to power Mahar Regional School at the MSTCA Coaches Invitational Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston.

The Senators also received a fourth-place team finish from the boys’ 4x400 meter relay team. Hugo Frost, Aaron Hendry, Sebastian Shaw and Ash Shaw continued their strong indoor season in the event.

Coaches vs. Cancer Thursday

Turners Falls High School will host Athol High School Thursday night for a series of Coaches vs. Cancer games.

The JV boys will open the night at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity girls’ game at 6. The varsity boys cap the tripleheader when they battle at 7:30.

Admission is $5 and there will be a 50/50 raffle as well. There will be special music played, coaches will be donning sneakers for the game and the cheerleaders will perform their tournament routine at halftime of the boys game as well. All money raised will be donated to the Coaches vs. Cancer Fund.

GHS hosting First Responders night

Greenfield High School will host a First Responders Appreciation Night when the girls’ basketball team hosts Hopkins Academy on Feb. 13.

The varsity game starts at 7 p.m. at Nichols Gymnasium in Greenfield. All first responders and their family members gain free admission into the game. There will be a 50/50 raffle at halftime, while all first responders will be recognized at halftime.


GML Bingo Night

The Greenfield Minor League will hold a Bingo Night Saturday at the Greenfield Elks Club.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and Bingo begins at 7. There will also be raffles at the event.
