Bulletin Board: Huskies blanks UMass icemen, 5-0

Nolan Stevens registered a hat trick and Northeastern defeated the University of Massachusetts, 5-0, in a Hockey East game Saturday night in Boston.

The win helped No. 8 Northeastern earn a split of the weekend series.

The Huskies (15-6-3 overall, 11-4-1 HE) led 1-0 after Dylan Sikura scored in the first period. Then Stevens scored twice in the second period to make it 3-0 after two. Brandon Schultz and Stevens each scored in the third period to put the game away.

Cayden Primeau stopped 19 shots to earn the shutout. Matt Murray made 28 saves in the loss.

UMass (11-11-1, 5-7-1) travels to Boston College Tuesday night.


Deerfield Academy results

It was a clean sweep for the Deerfield Academy swimming and diving teams Saturday.

The Big Green swept Rosemary Choate Hall, thanks to a 96-90 win on the girls’ side and a 104-82 win on the boys’ side.

• Elsewhere, DA’s girls’ squash team captured a 5-2 victory over Westminster.

Those were the only wins for the Big Green, as the girls’ basketball team dropped a 68-50 decision to Andover while the boys’ team fell to Andover, 62-57.

The boys’ hockey team fell to Choate in overtime, 3-2, while the girls’ hockey team was blanked by Taft School, 4-0.

Turners Falls Elks roll

Caleb Thomas threw in 15 points and Turners Falls Elks Club teammates Hugh Cyhowski and Joseph Mosca contributes 11 each in their 47-31 Suburban League fifth- and six-grade boys’ basketball win over Frontier Sunday at Turners Falls High School.

John Breor made a seven-point contribution to help the cause.
