Conant, Provost lead GMS past Smith, 58-13

Drew Conant scored 14 points, and Bob Provost tossed in a dozen to lead Greenfield Middle School to a 58-13 win over Smith Academy in boys’ basketball action on Thursday.

Ryan Cote chipped in with 10 points in the win and David Carey added 9.

Mav Ward, Ryan Pulizari and Jordan Connelly led a strong defensive effort.

• Also Thursday, Joe Thomson poured in 13 points to help Frontier Middle School to a 59-25 win over Hopkins Middle School in South Deerfield.

Patrick Boyden finished with 12 points in the win, including eight points in about a minute span as a full-court press by Frontier produced several quick baskets as the Red Hawks pulled away.

Jake Hanieski added 9 points for Frontier.

Pioneer hoop’s ‘Rock The House’

The Pioneer Valley Regional School Booster Club is hosting a ‘Rock The House’ night on Dec. 29 when the boys’ basketball team hosts rival Hopkins Academy in a Hampshire League South showdown in Northfield.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. with the JV game, and the evening will feature activities, as well as raffles and prizes between the JV and varsity games. A $100 gift certificate to Dick’s Sporting Goods will be raffled off, while a half court shot contest is also a featured event. A PVRS staff member will also be duct taped to the wall of the gymnasium along with several other giveaways.

Youth basketball 

Turners Falls 7th & 8th 

Nojo Ausikaitis drilled three 3-pointers on his way to a team-high 15 points, and the Turners Falls grades 7/8 Suburban League boys’ basketball team captured a 55-46 win over Hatfield on Saturday.

Brendan Driscoll and Logan Anderson tallied 12 points apiece for Turners, while Vinny Renaud added 9 points.

Hatfield’s Griffin Smiarowski led his squad with 7 points.
