Bulletin Board: Athol-Royalston Middle School boys hoop victorious

Angel Castillo’s 14 points propelled Athol-Royalston Middle School’s boys basketball team past Eaglebook, 41-33, on Thursday. 

Colby Goodwin chipped in 11 points while Ben Kearney added seven and Logan Cormier had three points. 

■ Maggie Provencal dropped 20 points for Greenfield as the Wave middle school girls basketball team came away with a 33-25 win over Turners Falls on Thursday. 

Mackensie Goncalves and Abby Carlo each tacked on four points in the win for Greenfield. 

Basketball

KOC Hoop Shoot

The Greenfield Knights of Columbus Council 133 will hold its Hoop Shoot on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Greenfield YMCA.

The competition is open to all girls and boys in Franklin County between the ages of 9 and 14 as of Jan. 1. Age group winners will advance to the District Championships in February also at the Greenfield YMCA.

Registration begins at 3 and the competition takes place immediately after.

Gymnastics

The Tumbling Tigers gymnastics team traveled to the Keene, N.H., for the fourth annual Royal Invitational on Saturday. 

In Level 2, Greenfield placed third (70.6) behind Keene (98.9) and Clark (99.1).

In Xcel Silver, Greenfield took first place (106.50) ahead  of  Westfield and Hampshire (65.8) who tied for second. 

In Xcel Gold, Westfield took first (102.65), over Greenfield in second (95.15), and Hampshire in third (92.8).

Level 2: In ages 8-9, Angelina Ayrapetyan placed first  in bars (9.250), beam (8.7), floor (8.9) and all-around (35.6). Ariana Bachand placed 2nd on vault (9.15), bars (9.05), floor (8.8) and all-around (35.0), and tied for 3rd on beam (8.0).

Level 3: In the 10-year old division, Virginia Krezmien tied for second on beam (7.7 ) and floor (8.4). In the 11-and-over division, Anna Carlson-Belanger tied for first on vault (9.2) and Emilia Luetjen placed second on vault (9.15).

Level 4: In U-11 division, Maddalena Figueroa-Starr placed second on vault (9.0), bars (8.65), floor (8.9) and all-around (34.55). In the 12+ division, Elsie Baker placed first on bars (9.2) and all-around (33.75), and placed second on beam (7.6) and floor (8.5), and third on vault (8.45). 

Level 8: Zenani Himlin-Mayekiso placed first on beam (8.35), and second on vault (8.4), floor (9.15) and all-around (31.2).

Level Xcel Silver: In the U-11 division, Lola Jones placed first on bars (9.2), beam (9.05) and tied for first in the all-around (34.65).

Sandra Johnson placed first on floor (8.7), tied for first in the all-around (34.65), placed second on beam (8.8) and third on bars (8.75).

Maya Colbeck placed first on vault (8.9), second on bars (9.0) and all-around (34.45), and tied for second on floor (8.6).

Lennon Phillips placed third on beam (8.65) and all-around (33.15).

Amelia Rider placed third on vault (8.6) and floor (8.3). Ohia Dellert tied for second on floor (8.6). In the 12+, Shelby Senn placed first on bars (8.7), beam (8.9), floor (9.2), and all-around (35.6), and placed second on vault (8.8). Anya Read placed second on bars (8.7) and third on floor (8.5).

Level Xcel Gold: In the U-12 division, Ava Garappolo placed first on beam, (8.7), second on bars (7.55), tied for third on floor (8.4), and placed third all-around (32.75). 

Juliette Potee tied for second on vault (8.4) and placed third on beam (8.2). Anwen Burwick placed third on vault (8.3), and tied for third on floor (7.6).

Level Xcel Diamond: Grayson Bowse placed first on bars (7.8), beam (9.35), floor (9.4) and all-around (35.15), and placed second on vault (8.6).

Baseball

GMLB Registration

Greenfield Minor League Baseball online registration is now open at gmlb.org.  Players can also sign up in person at the Greenfield Elks Lodge on Feb 29, March 7, March 14 and March 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Players signing up online are encouraged to stop in on one of those dates to get sized for a uniform and pick up raffle tickets.
