TURNERS FALLS — Authorities found nothing out of the ordinary after management evacuated Plastic Industries Inc. when a bomb threat was discovered shortly after midnight Monday.

According to the Montague Police Department, a night manager called police at 12:09 a.m. to report an employee found a threat on a note inside a bottle in the building at 262 Millers Falls Road. Police officers and the Turners Falls Fire Department responded.

Montague Police Chief Christopher Williams said the facility was cleared for re-entry at 12:48 a.m. He was not aware of any arrests or suspects and said Sgt. John Dempsey is investigating the case. He commended the night manager for promptly evacuating the building and calling 911.

Calls to the Turners Falls facility for comment were not returned.

Hillside Plastics, best known locally for its maple syrup containers, was sold in November 2015 to Carr Management Inc., a Nashua, N.H-based specialized manufacturer of blow-molded, high-density polyethylene bottles for dairy, water, food and industrial purposes.

According to its website, Carr Management began in 1999 as a privately-held company with three high-density polyethylene blow-molding facilities. In 2012, it acquired Plastic Industries, eventually changing the name to Plastic Industries Inc.

The same website states Hillside Plastics started in Sunderland in 1967 and relocated to its current location in Turners Falls in 1993.
