Good morning and welcome to Bobby’s World.
The annual Thanksgiving Dinner Fundraiser is now underway for 2019. Here are the details: It’s $50 to sponsor a needy family, and you can sponsor as many families as you want. Each family will receive the following to cook at their own homes for the holiday: One 20 pound turkey; stuffing mix; potatoes; butternut squash; carrots; cranberry sauce; rolls; apple pie. Anyone who wants to sponsor a family or multiple families can do so by calling me at 413-834-4222, by email at, or on Facebook by searching my name, “Bobby C. Campbell.”

Additionally, if you know of a family of four or more who could use a Thanksgiving meal, they can contact me the same way. I and other volunteers work with local agencies to other families as well, especially those with multiple children.

The program also feeds hundreds of other people each year through an annual Thanksgiving dinner at the Greenfield Salvation Army. This year, it will be held Sunday night, Nov. 24 at Greenfield Alliance Church on Chapman Street in Greenfield. Anyone in the community can stop by for dinner that night.

From contributions, we also make a cash donation to the Living Waters Assembly of God Church on Davis Street for its annual holiday dinner that’s held on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28 at noon in the church rectory. That dinner is also open to all.

When I started this program in 2016, with support from our local Greenfield Knights of Columbus, we helped about 250 people.

In 2017, The Greenfield Knights of Columbus increased its donation and through huge support from the Greenfield Recorder, our donations more than doubled. We were able to feed 700 people the second year. In 2018, we had more individual contributors, local businesses and community organizations donate again, more than they did the previous year. We were able to feed 900 people last year.

My goal for this year is to feed 1,000 people a Thanksgiving dinner.

We need the community’s support to make this happen. Last year, we raised over $5,000. This year, we will need closer to $6,000. I know we can hit our goal. But it will take work.

Please share this with everyone — through collaboration, we can all make a difference this holiday season.

Before the community meal, individual dinners will be distributed by volunteers on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 24 at 3 p.m. from the WHAI parking lot in Greenfield.

In a few weeks, I’ll have details on another holiday fundraiser, the Franklin County TRIAD’s Hams for Seniors.

Thank you all for reading and for your support and have a wonderful weekend.
