BERNARDSTON — The annual town caucus will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center within the Powers Institute.

According to a press release from Town Clerk Christina Slocum-Wysk, the caucus must have a quorum of at least 25 registered voters. Masks will be required and seating will be arranged to allow for social distancing.

“The purpose of the caucus is to nominate candidates to fill various town positions at the annual town election,” Slocum-Wysk wrote in the release. “Candidates need to be registered voters in the town of Bernardston to be nominated for any position.”

Anyone who wishes to be nominated may come to the caucus or have another person who is attending nominate them. Those nominated for any position need to complete paperwork with Slocum-Wysk by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 5.

Anyone who misses this deadline may still obtain nomination papers by March 11, by contacting Slocum-Wysk at 413-648-5408 or townclerk@townofbernardston.org.

The following positions will be on the ballot for the May 3 election:

■Assessor, three-year term

■Board of Health member, three-year term

■Constable, three-year term

■Four seats as Cushman Library trustee, three-year terms

■Four seats as Powers Institute trustees, three-year terms

■One Recreation Commission member with a three-year term and one Recreation Commission member with a one-year term to fill a vacancy

■Selectboard member, three-year term

According to Slocum-Wysk, Robert Keir and Susan Tormanen have confirmed they will not seek re-election as Cushman Library trustees. Stanley Garland, current Selectboard chair, is the Selectboard member who is up for re-election. Speaking Thursday, Garland said he hasn’t decided yet if he will seek re-election.
