WARWICK — Warwick Police, neighboring departments and Massachusetts State Police conducted a search on Monday that lasted over two hours and resulted in no arrest for a suspect wanted on multiple active warrants.

Gunnar Mayo, 26, is wanted on warrants for multiple motor vehicle infractions and one felony warrant for domestic assault and battery.

According to Warwick Police Chief David Shoemaker, an officer was monitoring traffic in town when a car passed, and he recognized the passenger as having warrants.

“We confirmed the warrants and when we stopped the car, the guy bailed,” Shoemaker explained.

Monday’s search began at around 12:10 p.m. The Northfield Police Department, Orange Police K-9 Unit, Erving Police Department and Massachusetts State Police were quickly called to assist.

“Numerous departments arrived within 15 minutes,” Shoemaker recounted.

During the search, cruisers drove around town as officers swept the areas of Wendell, Northfield, Shepardson and White roads on foot. Police and K-9 units searched for the party for over two hours before considering the area cleared at around 4 p.m.

At this time, Warwick and other area departments continue to search for Mayo. Police say they do not consider him a danger to the public, but advised residents to call 911 if they see someone matching his description.
