NORTHFIELD – The Pioneer Valley Regional School District Committee has finalized a contract for a new interim superintendent, and is still working to complete a contract for business manager services.
According to School Committee Chair Julie Burke, the school committee held an executive session discussion Aug. 25 and agreed to an annual salary of $155,000 for a contract from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022, for Interim Superintendent Patricia Kinsella. Burke said her salary will be prorated in accordance with Kinsella’s start date of Aug. 26.
Additionally, Burke said the School Committee discovered that the process for hiring a business management firm such as The Management Solutions includes obtaining up to three quotes for the service. The district is posting an invitation to bid “ASAP, with the hopes of completing a contract in the near future.”
NORTHFIELD – Neighbors at Home will sponsor a free community “Shredding Day” at the Trinitarian Congregational Church Saturday, Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to noon.
The community shredding event is sponsored by Neighbors at Home, a local organization that works to help older folks remain in their homes. The day will see a truck come to the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 147 Main St., and will collect material residents are looking to shred and recycle.
According to Neighbors at Home board member Pam Eldridge, the shredding company will take any paper material. No three-ring binders will be accepted, but staples in the papers are OK. Shredded material will go to a recycling center for re-purposing. This is first-come, first-served until the truck reaches capacity. There is a limit of four grocery sized bags or boxes per person.
The event is free, but donations are greatly appreciated.
