Auditor elected by write-in votes in Hawley

HAWLEY — Write-in candidate Carla Clark will take over as auditor and incumbent Robert McLean will continue serving on the Selectboard/Board of Health following the results of Monday’s annual town election.

The election, which saw no contested races and no one on the ballot for the auditor’s position, was held at Town Hall from 11:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. According to Town Clerk Pamela Shrimpton, 39 of Hawley’s 268 registered voters cast their ballots, making for a 14.55 percent voter turnout.

McLean received 37 votes to retain his seat on the Selectboard/Board of Health for a three-year term. Clark’s 12 write-in votes secured her the auditor’s seat for one year.

The following candidates were also elected:

■Moderator, one-year term — Lark Thwing, 21 write-in votes

■Assessor, three-year term — Jeffrey Carantit, 24 write-in votes

■Hawlemont Regional School District School Committee, three-year term — CourtneyAnn Hoyt, 36 votes

■Hawlemont School Committee, two-year term — Suzanne Crawford, 37 votes

■Mohawk Trail Regional School District School Committee, three-year term — Suzanne Crawford, 36 votes

Shrimpton noted the traditional election day bake sale raised more than $400 for the Sons and Daughters of Hawley.
