Athol Police Logs: April 4 to April 7, 2020

Saturday, April 4

12:03 a.m. — Caller looking to speak with an officer regarding his motor vehicle, King Road. Subject advised to seek court options as issue was civil.

1:46 a.m. — Officer off with vehicle, Main Street. Officer asked parties to move along for the night due to the fact that the store was closed.

10:08 a.m. — 911 caller reporting the neighbor is putting exercise equipment in the driveway, School Street. Landlord/tenant issue.

2:03 p.m. — Caller reporting he saw a man running from another house, Partridgeville Road. Negative contact with described subject or anyone at the residence.

2:10 p.m. — Officer calling in a welfare check on a male party, Main Street.

11:54 p.m. — Man called requesting a welfare check on his friend, Grove Street. Negative contact. Reporting party stated that he was worried because the female subject’s phone was going straight to voicemail.

Sunday, April 5

12:02 a.m. — Alarm company calling for a commercial fire alarm, West Royalston Road. Fire Department on scene, nothing showing.

1:42 a.m. — 911 caller reporting what she believes is someone breaking into her vehicle, Intervale Avenue. All units advised. Negative contact. Searched the area and everything was secure.

10:22 a.m. — Party reporting that someone is blowing salt and dirt around, Park Street.

10:29 a.m. — Party requesting an officer meet her at CVS in regards to a 209A, Pleasant Street. Officer requesting an ambulance for the female party.

10:55 a.m. — Manager reporting last night someone pulled the pull station off and the alarm broke, West Royalston Road.

1:29 p.m. — Caller requesting to speak to an officer about an issue where the reporting party walked into the grocery store with his service dog and the manager told the man to bring the service dog back to his vehicle because the dog is not allowed in the store, High Knob Road. Officer advised party to call corporate.

3:44 p.m. — Athol Hospital requesting a welfare check on a woman who left the emergency room, Pleasant Street. Officer saw female party walking up Pleasant Street. Woman called the station, officer talked to her and she stated she was fine.

5:37 p.m. — Caller wanting to speak to an officer about an ongoing issue with neighbors, South Street. Reporting party stated that the neighbors put up a camera and it is pointed to his yard.

6:05 p.m. — Caller requesting to speak to an officer about a 209A, Pleasant Street. Spoke with reporting party, advised to speak to officer, no new complaint or issue from previous call.

7:30 p.m. — Caller stating that a man wearing camouflage pants and a gray hoodie ran across the back yard and into an apartment 30 minutes before the party called, Partridgeville Road. Reporting party stated that she hasn’t seen that man before. Officer out at location.

9:33 p.m. — 911 caller reporting her mom was involved in a physical domestic with her boyfriend, Brookside Road. One party placed under protective custody.

10:20 p.m. — Gardner Police Department requesting Athol police check the area for a phone that they have pinging, Bearsden Road. Involved female is believed to be in a domestic. Officer checked parking lot, no sign of the vehicle.

 Monday, April 6

12:07 a.m. — Caller stating his elderly father walked to location around 6 p.m. and he has not heard from him since, Pleasant Street. Reporting party is requesting a welfare check at the address. Reporting party called back and stated that the man is now home and safe.

1:29 a.m. — Man called asking if any contact had been made with his missing sister, Exchange Street. He states he called Gardner and was told that the phone signal hit a tower in Athol, so it would fall on Athol police to investigate further. BOLO information given to officers regarding the situation and vehicle. Officer searched Bearsden Road area, negative contact. Gardner Police Department called back with another ping location, officer checked Gulf Road for the vehicle. Negative contact. Officer checked the area of Chase Road, negative contact. Officer checked the area of Old Keene Road, negative contact. Officer attempted to search the area of Green Street, but could not due to the road being impassable. Officer searched the area of Willis Road, negative contact. Officer searched the area of Highland Terrace, negative contact. Brother of female party called and stated his sister and her boyfriend have been found by his brother-in-law.

7:41 a.m. — Subject into the station to speak to an officer about a restraining order, Pleasant Street. Paperwork completed and submitted to Orange District Court.

9:35 a.m. — Party reporting an issue between tenants, Summer Street. First-floor tenant poured lighter fluid on rope near a vehicle and second-floor tenant is scared to start her vehicle now. Landlord called back stating the tenant is giving her a hard time due to no assigned parking and refusing to move her property out of the driveway. Landlord moved it away and the tenant put the cones right back and is yelling at her. Officer spoke with all parties including landlord. First-floor tenant has been putting out traffic cones blocking a space off in the driveway. First floor tenant does not have a vehicle. Landlord advised officer there are no assigned spaces for tenants. First-floor tenant was asked to refrain from putting items in the driveway.

10:42 a.m. — Officer is investigating two off-road dirt bikes that passed a school bus, Chestnut Hill Avenue.

11:46 a.m. — Engine 3 en route to investigate a possible illegal burn, Freedom Street. Engine 3 off at the corner of Fern and Freedom streets with an unattended fire. Extinguished.

1:45 p.m. — Engine 3 en route for illegal burn, Freedom Street. Extinguished.

4:11 p.m. — Paint in the roadway, Partridgeville and South Athol roads. DPW will be sending down a sander.

5:05 p.m. — Community policing, Freedom Street. Birthday drive by.

6:03 p.m. — Report of very loud music, Freedom Street.

8:16 p.m. — Caller reporting a plastic cutout of a child with a flag attached to it in the travel lane of the roadway, New Sherborn Road. Object moved from roadway.

8:34 p.m. — Caller advising they have a female customer who is refusing to leave, Main Street. Party has not been trespassed from the store. Both parties were verbally trespassed by staff and officers from this location.

8:49 p.m. — Speed complaint, High Knob Road. Negative contact.

10:27 p.m. — Caller advising that her daughter is walking to the police department because she is angry that she won’t be driven to Springfield, Exchange Street. Female party outside yelling that she needed help.

Tuesday, April 7

1:08 a.m. — Athol Hospital requesting assistance with a patient that is highly intoxicated, Main Street. Officer assisted emergency room staff.

3:07 a.m. — Officer transported a citizen from Athol Hospital emergency room to a residence in town, Main Street.

4:40 a.m. — Report of a motor vehicle accident, South Athol Road and Riverview Avenue. Motor vehicle hit the guardrail.

5:02 a.m. — 911 caller reporting that an upstairs neighbor stole his ring, Shore Drive. Officer spoke with the reporting party, unsure if he misplaced the property; he was highly intoxicated. Officer will follow up with the reporting party when he gets a chance to look for the property.

8:50 a.m. — Caller reporting his employee was attacked by a pitbull for the second time, Riverbend Street. When employee came to street the dog was already attacking another individual. Then the owner called the dog back and then it broke free again attacking his employee.

1:15 p.m. — Fire Department responding to a small brush fire, Euclid Street.

3:08 p.m. — 911 caller reporting a brush fire in her neighbor’s yard, Chestnut Hill Avenue.

3:45 p.m. — Fire Department advising they are investigating an outside fire, Pleasant Street.

4:30 p.m. — Caller reporting a woman walking down the street with blood dripping down her leg, Pleasant Street. Patient refused any contact with officer or by the ambulance crew.

7:29 p.m. — Caller reporting that there are four cars filled with teenagers in the parking lot, Bearsden Road. Would like them moved along.

8:36 p.m. — Cumberland Farms employee reporting two men fighting in the Ocean State Job Lot entrance, Main Street.

9:09 p.m. — Motor vehicle stop, Orange and Pierce streets. Located vehicle regarding previous call for service. Operator was by herself.

9:57 p.m. — Caller stating the garage/house that has been vacant next door has people in it and she believes they are squatting, Main Street. Upon arrival, no lights on and area seemed in order.

10:22 p.m. — Officer spoke with party regarding her intoxicated husband, J Street.

10:31 p.m. — Caller reporting that her upstairs neighbor is making noise, Shore Drive. Advised first-floor apartment to turn down the music.
