River Rat Race weekend offers a chance to win $100 gift card

ORANGE — The North Quabbin Chamber of Commerce has announced Orange businesses are adding some “Hot Spots” to River Rat Race weekend.

“Hot Spot” merchants will have shopping maps with 22 locations from the downtown business district to places east on Route 2A toward Athol and South Main Street toward New Salem. This shopping event is sponsored by Athol Credit Union and will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Shoppers can pick up a map at any of the “Hot Spots.” Those who visit at least six of them will receive a stamp. Two winners will be drawn from the completed maps and receive a $100 buy local gift card. Maps must be dropped off when completed at the new Athol Credit Union branch at 85 East Main St. in Orange.

“Hot Spots” include Trail Head, Millers River Café, Quabbin Harvest, Cycle Design and Gelinas Lawn Maintenance, Grrr Gear, Bear Arms, Home Fruit Wine, Honest Weight Artisan Beer, Orange Innovation Center’s Fitness Club, The Pizza Factory, and Small Fries Kids Consignment. The Athol Credit Union parking lot will host Higgins Power Sports.

Supporting businesses open for their regular hours are The Dance Studio, Mike’s Place, Hamberg’s Motorcycle Service, Whitten Enterprises/Ames Trophy, Orange Graphix, Mount Tully Kennels, Hume Equipment, Orange Saws and Timeless Pieces Tattoo.
