Calling all aspiring filmmakers and people who enjoy good movies — filmmaker Keith Boynton who will show a pair of films in Shelburne Falls: a feature film he made in 28 days, "Chasing Home," and a short film from his "12 Films.12 Weeks" project.

"Chasing Home" is the story of three siblings who come together when their father goes missing, a journey that takes them to unexpected places and forces them to confront their feelings about their father and each other.*

Following the film, there will be a question and answer session with Boynton and other local filmmakers who will also provide advice and assistance for making short films. The film event will be held July 7 at 4 p.m. at Memorial Hall in Shelburne Falls. Attendees can draw inspiration from these professionals and learn how to make a film of five minutes or less for the 13th Annual Ashfield FilmFest. At the film fest, prizes will be awarded in multiple categories and all accepted entries are screened in front of a live audience in Ashfield during the festival's gala evening event Sept. 21.

Submissions for the Ashfield FilmFest are due by Aug. 12 and there is no entry fee. All residents of Ashfield, Buckland, or Shelburne can submit short documentary, historical, musical, or fictional  films. If one does not live in these towns, all that's required to enter is that the film be about, or set in, Ashfield, or mention Ashfield in some creative way.

Anybody can submit a film at any time before the deadline and one need not attend the program to make a film. Learn more at Tickets to "How to Make a Short Film in a Short Time" are $5 at the door.
