BERNARDSTON — Kringle Candle Co.’s business has lit up like one of its signature products in the five years since its founding, according to owner Michael Kittredge III, and the Bernardston candle manufacturer plans to celebrate that for the next nine days.

Starting today, the company will hold a week-long anniversary celebration at its store at 220 South St. The celebration will run through next weekend, Kittredge said.

The two weekends will feature a variety of activities, such as pumpkin painting, apple decorating and grilling demonstrations, and a multitude of sampling opportunities featuring mulled wine and cider, chocolate, coffee, tea and other food.

“It’s going to be a sampling bonanza,” Kittredge said. “It’s one of the biggest events we’ve ever done.”

The store will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday’s events will be held in conjunction with the year’s final Cars and Coffee car show, Kittredge said. Kittredge said the store will sell a limited-edition, silver-plated commemorative candle on a first come, first served basis.

“It’s been so crazy,” he said of the past half-decade in business. “It went by so fast for me, but at the same time it feels like an eternity. It seems like it was just yesterday that I was still hand-pouring candles in the basement, now we’re an international business.”

Kittredge said the celebration comes at a time when the company is expanding its operations to add contract manufacturing to its services, allowing other brands to have their candles professionally produced by Kringle.

“It’s something we’ve been able to do because we’ve made our production process more efficient,” he said. “Now, other companies can have that line extension.”
