GREENFIELD — Residents can mingle while selling their precious treasures during what organizers have declared to be Franklin County’s largest tag sale.

The annual event, to be held Saturday, May 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Franklin County Fairgrounds, will be held rain or shine. Although it is free to attend, a $5 donation is suggested, with proceeds helping the Franklin County Agricultural Society maintain the fairgrounds.

According to Sharon Cross, of the WHAI 98.3 FM, Bear Country 95.3 FM and The Outlaw 92.3/AM700 radio stations, who is helping organize the tag sale, there will be roughly 100 vendors, including food booths.

“It started as a community event, an inexpensive way for the community to have a big tag sale,” she said. “We bring the guests right to them.”

Reserved spaces are $20 for 10-by-10-foot spaces, but people can pay another $10 for each additional 10 feet of space. Table setup will take place the night before on Friday, May 12, at 5:30 p.m.

People can also donate items for others to sell. For instance, Cross mentioned some donations from Franklin County’s YMCA. Any household items or knickknacks can be donated and sold, such as antiques and clothing, all of which Cross said have already come in as donations.

Last year, Cross said thousands of people attended, and after the event, people were calling to ask when the tag sale would happen again.

“It’s a fun community event,” Cross commented. “You might find some stuff for your house or apartment, or stuff you don’t need or you think you’ll need.”
