Deadline looms for Montague Soapbox Race sign-ups

TURNERS FALLS — The deadline to register for the Sept. 27 Montague Soapbox Race is Tuesday, Sept. 22. Online registration is available at montaguesoapboxraces.com/x/18/2026-Montague-Soapbox-RACER-Application.

A soapbox cart building party was held at Nova Motorcycles on Sept. 12. Montague Soapbox Race committee members Scott Murphy, Thom Bullock and Mik Muller, along with Nova Motorcycles co-owner Peter Chilton, assisted anyone looking to work on their carts. Four carts came out, readier to go down the Unity Park hill in Turners Falls.

Ninth annual Senior Expo set for Tuesday

GILL — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office TRIAD Program and Charlene Manor Extended Care will host the ninth annual Senior Expo on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Schuetzen Verein, located at 55 Barton Cove Road.

Attendees can enjoy a complimentary lunch while exploring more than 50 vendor booths featuring information, resources and services designed to help older adults live safely and independently at home.

Four vaccine clinics coming to Turners Falls

TURNERS FALLS — Valley Health Regional Collaborative and Walgreens invite residents to take part in a series of flu vaccine clinics next month. COVID-19 and pneumonia vaccines will also be available.

  • Oct. 15, 10 a.m. to noon — Gill-Montague Senior Center, 62 Fifth St.
  • Oct. 20, 3 to 5 p.m. — Town Hall annex, 1 Avenue A.
  • Oct. 23, 10 a.m. to noon — Food City, 250 Avenue A.
  • Oct. 28, 3 to 5 p.m. — Sheffield Elementary School, 43 Crocker Ave.
