Monday, Aug. 17

1:12 a.m. — Caller on Shattuck Street states people are yelling, wants them to quiet down. Second caller states the yelling has been going on for a few hours, one male party seems agitated. Four teens were listening to music and talking loudly. Parties were advised of the noise complaint and stated they would quiet down for the night.

12:08 p.m. — Caller from Highland Avenue requesting to speak to an officer regarding the homeless population increasing in the area as well as the increase in e-bikes. Reporting party says they believe there’s a new site to the left of the access road (near the tennis courts). States he hasn’t had any concerning interactions, but he does worry about a potential increase in individuals and wanted police to be aware. Also discussed laws regarding e-bikes and electric two-wheel vehicles, and when to call about erratic operators.

5:09 p.m. — Caller on Forbes Court reports yelling and fighting, pots and pans banging. Unsure what is happening but it has been going on for 30 minutes. Reporting party called back advising all is now quiet. Mother was talking loudly to her children because they would not do their chores.

Tuesday, Aug. 18

12:52 a.m. — Report of a male party on Colrain Road jumping out at vehicles and swearing at motorists as they go by. Involved male was having a bad day and was provided a ride to the bus station.

11:30 a.m. — Gary Martin Palazzo Jr., 37, of Brookside Road in Orange, was arrested on High Street on a warrant.

12:20 p.m. — Caller at the Winslow Building on Wells Street states he had a laptop delivered by FedEx, but it is not in the common area and he believes it may be in the building’s office. Female party states she does not have a package in the office addressed to the caller and will check the cameras to see who may have retrieved it. A male party entered the vestibule, grabbed the package and walked out. Dispatchers to check Main Street cameras. Report issued.

2:54 p.m. — Hazardous condition reported on Wisdom Way. Car parked on the side of the road with a tree branch on the back of it. No one around. Vehicle towed.

3:10 p.m. — Reporting party from Big Y on the Mohawk Trail states a known shoplifter was in the store and just went into the bathroom with a backpack and a suitcase. Officers sent. Party was asked to open his backpack and suitcase. All items were recovered and the party was advised not to return to Big Y.

Wednesday, Aug. 19

10:11 a.m. — Reporting party at Chapman Court believes his Social Security number is being fraudulently used. Reporting party is listed as an employee of Crumpin-Fox even though he has never worked there. Party was advised to go to the Social Security Office, look into online resources and call the Bernardston Police Department.

3:11 p.m. — Reporting party reports he is being harassed by a male party asking for money. Male party is currently in front of El Greco on Main Street. Not as reported. Male party asked for a dollar then was walking behind the reporting party toward the restaurant.

10:46 p.m. — Caller on Elm Street called looking to speak with a specific officer, but that officer was on a call. Caller wanted to thank him and let him know that he was his hero.

11:29 p.m. — Caller on Bradford Drive reports hearing two gunshots about a minute apart. Confirmed to be fireworks. Male party was advised to stop the fireworks.

Thursday, Aug. 20

12:47 a.m. — Reporting party from the Victoria Bar on Chapman Street reports a man in a mask is filming outside and she feels uneasy as she is closing the bar alone. Male party up to his normal routine, recording, trying to get a rise out of people. Advised he is not welcome at the establishment. Bar was advised to call police if he becomes a problem.

12:14 p.m. — Caller reporting a male party in a vehicle at Greenfield Savings Bank on Main Street verbally threatened him after he was confronted about handicapped parking. Party did not want to pursue any charges concerning the threats.

4:33 p.m. — Report of a vehicle operating erratically on Federal Street. Motorcycle or minibike with no plates swerving in and out of lanes. Party was advised of road laws. Party stated he was swerving to avoid potholes due to the bike having small tires.

9:53 p.m. — Reporting party on Water Street called stating another party was trying to retrieve items from the residence and she was unsure if he was wanted there. He reportedly made vulgar threats to her and was screaming. Steven Tyler Audette, 32, of Country Club Road in Greenfield, was arrested on charges of vandalizing property, resisting arrest, and assault and battery attempting to disarm a police officer.

Friday, Aug. 21

12:06 a.m. — Caller states there is a creepy man outside Smitty’s Pub on Chapman Street filming. Man is wearing all black and has a black mask covering his face. Bartender looking for an escort to her car. Officer escorted her to her car without issue.

8:14 a.m. — Traffic stop on Federal Street. Jonathan Paul Westerman, 62, of Fort Square in Greenfield, was arrested on a warrant.

6:05 p.m. — Reporting party on Davis Street is concerned as her peach tree that was producing peaches has since been stripped of its fruit and the branches appear to have been pruned. Does not know who would have done it. Unaware of any cameras in the area. Reporting party has no known adversaries or leads. Report issued.

11:00 p.m. — Reporting party at Green River Park on Petty Plain Road states someone is trying to get into her tent. Yelling and screaming. Male party reportedly assaulted two women, unknown weapons. Anthony Wade Ruehle, 51, homeless of Greenfield, was arrested on charges of assault to rape (two counts), assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct (subsequent offense), disturbing the peace, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery.

Saturday, Aug. 22

6:18 p.m. — Report of four juveniles trying to fight on Carpenters Lane. Advised that the juveniles were “playing around.” No visible cuts or marks on hands.

8:21 p.m. — Reporting party on High Street states her boyfriend is intoxicated and attacking her. No weapons, verbally threatening her. Male party was yelling in the background. Verbal argument over sleeping arrangements. Situation mediated, no further action required.

Sunday, Aug. 23

10:46 a.m. — Caller from Conway Street is concerned for the neighborhood regarding the amount of activity at all hours of the night and at the park. Multiple disturbances overnight around midnight and 4 a.m. coming from a specific apartment. Advised the reporting party to call during the disturbance so police may address it appropriately. Reporting party is requesting more police presence in the area and in the park.

4:19 p.m. — Reporting party states her wallet was left on a washing machine at the Village Shops Laundromat on the French King Highway. When she returned, the wallet was there but $300 was missing. Report issued.
