ASHFIELD — One two-year seat on the Park Commission remains vacant following a failure to elect on Saturday.

The position had five write-in candidates — Shirley Lilly, Helene Leue, Tom Aurigemma, John Nawrocki and Bryon Pepyne — with each receiving only one vote. Given this failure to elect, Town Clerk Alexis Fedorjaczenko said the next step will be for the commission to contact the town administrator and Selectboard to appoint someone to the seat, which would also appear on next year’s ballot.

Of the 1,431 registered voters in Ashfield, 182 cast their ballots, or 13%. A ballot question for a Proposition 2½ override to fund the purchase a new fire engine was approved by a vote of 127-45.

The results of the remaining races, none of which were contested, are as follows:

■Moderator, one-year term — Stewart “Buz” Eisenberg, 167 votes.

■Tree warden, one-year term — Thomas Poissant, 163 votes.

■Selectboard, three-year term — Todd Olanyk, 164 votes.

■Board of Assessors, three-year term — George Stephan, 160 votes.
