BUCKLAND — Maybe it’s all that coffee that keeps them on their toes, but the Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters’ “Spelling Beans” won a third championship in this year’s Mary Lyon Foundation Community Spelling Bee at the Mohawk Trail Regional School. But their closest rival, the owlish team “Senior Wise,” didn’t let them win without a fight. In round after round, both teams were tied. Either both spelled a word correctly or both misspelled it. In the end, “eudaemonia,” meaning “happiness” or “human flourishing,” retained the Beans’ champion title for a second year in a row.
