Mohawk to end China program after 2 years

BUCKLAND — After a two-year trial, the Mohawk Trail Regional School District is ending efforts to attract tuition-paying Chinese high school students and its Chinese language and culture classes at Mohawk and in two elementary schools. “Mohawk is cutting its Chinese Program due to low student interest and budget pressure,” said School Superintendent Michael Buoniconti, an initial supporter of the program. This fall, only one Chinese student was enrolled in Mohawk’s second year of Chinese high school students at Mohawk.
