GREENFIELD — Sandra Boston believes we live in what she calls, “an extraction economy,” which is why she and other members of Greening Greenfield buried a time capsule to be opened 50 years from now. “We take things out of the earth and we use them as if they’re free,” she explained. “Then we throw away the results without any awareness of where ‘away’ is, with the consequences of carbon dioxide going up into the atmosphere.
