Two weeks ago, I wrote about Northfield's Connie Putnam being honored by Tufts University after coaching there for 21 years.
I wound up receiving a phone call from someone who had been at Turners Falls High School in 1957 and remembered a coach that had touched his life by the name of Richard ''Dick'' Putnam. The gentleman I talked to wanted to know if the two men were perhaps related.
As it turns out, Richard Putnam is the father of Connie Putnam and like his son, the father also had a big impact on his students. Connie provided me with some information on his late father.
