GREENFIELD -- Beatrice Natalie (Abbott) Homer, 87, of Greenfield died Thursday (7-15-10) at Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility.
Born in Keene, N.H., on Nov. 17, 1922, she was the daughter of Varnum and Violet (Frary) Abbott.
She was the widow of James R. Homer.
Beatrice was a lab technician in the chemistry department at UMass. She enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, cooking, the company of friends and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Richard Colburn of Florida; a daughter, Barbara Mundy and her husband Kenneth of Greenfield; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Varnum Abbott and his wife Joan of Northampton, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her second husband, James Homer, she was also predeceased by a son, Merle Colburn in 1976, and her first husband, Merle Colburn Sr. in 1982.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, July 31, at 3 p.m. at the Greenfield Alliance Church, 385 Chapman St., with the Rev. Barry Warren officiating. Private committal services were held on Monday in Pine Grove Cemetery, Hinsdale, N.H.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Home, 14 High St., Greenfield.
