NORTHAMPTON -- Jack L. Reed, 64, of Northampton, died Thursday (7-22-10) in Cooley Dickinson Hospital.

Born in Bellview, Pa., he was the son of the late Grace Reed. He graduated from Smith Vocational High School.

Reed retired from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he worked in Moving Services.

He was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

He belonged to American Legion Post 28 in Northampton and the Michael Curtin VFW 9006 in Florence.

An avid sports fan, he loved his ''Meadowbrook Friends'' and his dog Buttons.

He leaves his daughter, Michelle Reed of Amherst; his son, Jack L. Reed of Montague; his brother, Harold Gilbert Jr. of Sanford, Maine, and sister, Juanita Synder of Westfield; his former wife, Margaret Kaslauskas) Reed; five grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Drozdal Funeral Home, Northampton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Annunciation Chapel in Florence. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
