GREENFIELD -- The site plan for a big box store on French King Highway needs to include more wetlands -- a state requirement that won't shrink the six of the store and consquently won't deter a lawsuit over the store's size, either.
The state Department of Environmental Protection has issued conditions for the planned discount department store, which include the expansion of a controversial wetland, restoration of riverfront areas and wetland buffer zones and an enhanced storm water drainage plan.
The DEP began looking at plans submitted by Ceruzzi Inc. of Fairfield, Conn., when the 10 residents appealed a town Conservation Commission approval because they felt the commission's conditions did not go far enough to protect the environment.
