Hazel M. Thurber

LARGO, Fla. -- Hazel M. (Grover) Thurber, 100, of Largo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (12-2-09) at Palm Gardens of Largo's nursing home with her granddaughter, Terry, by her side.

She was born in Brattleboro, Vt., on Oct. 25, 1909, the daughter of Joseph and Mable (Taft) Grover. She grew up in Bernardston, Mass.

Hazel was a librarian and a homemaker.

She was predeceased in this life by her loving husband, Herbert of 64 years (June 1929-July 1993); a son, Merrill, and a daughter, Sylvia.

Survivors include two sisters, Margaret Colburn of Weare, N.H., and Leila Ellis of Greenfield, Mass.; one brother, Clifford Grover of Bernardston; six grandchildren, Terry T. Wichlenski, Kimberlee T. Crawford, Sandra T. Williams, Suzette Burns, Michele Loyless and Kevin Wamboldt; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Saturday in Serenity Gardens in Largo.
